The odds look good at the moment for an ASP trade and suggest that the market is expecting a 1-0 or 2-0 result for Austria.
Austria and Portugal are expected to qualify 1st and 2nd in this group with Portugal seen as the favourites to go through in 1st place. Out of 10 matches over the last 12 months, Austria have won 7. But all of their defeats in that time have been in the last 5 games. They were surprisingly beaten by Turkey 2-1 and not so surprisingly, the Netherlands 2-0, they also lost 2-1 to Switzerland. Austria are currently ranked by FIFA as 10th in the World with only Belgium, Germany, Spain and Portugal ranked higher in Europe. Most recent results hardly justify that ranking, however, they did do well in the Euro qualifiers.
Hungary, in contrast are ranked 20th and have won only 3 from 9 games in the last 12 months. Their last game was a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Germany and I don’t expect them to do much against Austria. Hungary look boring and lacking in any real quality. If the Austrians play as well as they can then a 2-0 or even 3-0 win could be on the cards.
Personally, I expect an over 2.5 goals result even though the Betfair market strongly favours under.
I will be looking to trade this one with a cautious eye being kept on ANY OTHER – not a game to go mad on I think.
